Boys Meet

Flintridge Prep won the boys meet on a late surge, winning 3 of the last 4 events to top Webb.

Webb jumped out to an early lead, winning the first two races. The 200 medley relay saw Webb top Flintridge Prep 1:41.41 to 1:41.71. Then Richard Parnell won the 200 free in a dominating 1:46.09 – more than seven seconds better than the field.

Parnell would return to win the 100 fly in 52.56 later on.

But Flintridge Prep struck back with a double from Andreas Langen. Langen took the 50 free in 21.41, then completed the sprint sweep with a 47.32 win in the 100 free.

The real Flintridge Prep surge came at the end of the meet, though, with wins in the 200 and 400 free relays surrounding a 54.62 win for Brett Bell in the 100 back. Bell’s teammate Winston Chen was second in that race in 56.90.

Webb got a 100 breaststroke win (Euson Hui in 1:05.31) in between Bell’s 100 back and the 400 free relay, but it wasn’t enough to beat out Flintride Prep for the team title.

Other individual winners were Poly/Pasadena’s Jeffrey Haeglin in the 200 IM (2:08.47) and his teammate Dean Johnson in the 500 free (5:07.73).

  2. Webb – 298.5
  3. Poly/Pasadena – 196
