Megan Wenman, who goes to Rosemount High School in Minnesota and swims for Blackline Aquatics, has made a verbal commitment to the University of North Dakota. Wenman is a Winter Juniors qualifier in the 100 fly but shows equal strength across a variety of events and distances. Most of her best times would already make the UND Top 5 for 2014-15; the rest would make the Top 10.
In a show of the measure of her versatility, Wenman swam the 100 and 200 freestyles at last year’s MSHSL Girls’ Swimming & Diving and came in sixth and seventh, respectively. Her top SCY times are:
- 100 fly – 55.96
- 200 fly – 2:06.29
- 100 back – 57.97
- 200 IM – 2:05.43
- 400 IM – 4:31.24
- 50 free – 23.77
- 100 free – 51.40
- 200 free – 1:51.90
Wenman will be valuable to North Dakota at the conference level. Her top time in the 100 fly would have qualified for the “A” final at last year’s WAC Conference Championships; her 200 fly would have made “B” finals.
Wenman joins fellow commits Anna Andersen and Caily Friel in what is shaping up to be a strong class of 2020.
