COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina swimming and diving announced its upcoming meet schedule for the 2021-22 season on Wednesday in its inaugural season under new head coach Jeff Poppell. The team will return to a full slate of competition with seven dual meets and a pair of multi-day invitationals.

“I’m very excited about the meet schedule that we’ve put together for my inaugural season at South Carolina,” said Poppell. “There are many things that I am eager to learn about this team and do feel that this schedule helps us accomplish that goal while also preparing us adequately for the SEC and NCAA Championships late in the year.”

The Gamecocks will host the team’s Garnet and Black Intrasquad meet on Friday, Sept. 24 at 4 p.m. ET. Carolina will then kickoff the season against Gardner-Webb at home on Oct. 9 at 11 a.m.

The team will compete three more times before Christmas at Georgia (Oct. 23 – 11 a.m.), vs. Queens (Oct. 29 – 4 p.m.) and at the Tennessee Invitational (Nov. 18-20). USA Diving Nationals are set to take place Dec. 13-19 at a location TBD.

Diving will begin the New Year at the Tennessee Diving Invitational (Jan. 3-5). Swimming returns to the pool with duals against Vanderbilt and Bellarmine on Saturday, Jan. 8 at 11 a.m. in Nashville, Tenn. The team will then host back-to-back duals at home against UNC-Wilmington (Jan. 15 at 10 a.m.) and Missouri (Jan. 29 at 10 a.m.) before finishing the regular season at the Virginia Tech Invitational (Feb. 4-6).

The SEC Championships will return to their normal format Feb. 15-19 in Knoxville, Tenn. with the men and women competing simultaneously. NCAA Zone B Diving will take place March 7-9 in Atlanta, Ga. prior to the start of the 2022 NCAA Division 1 Swimming and Diving Championships. This year’s championship will be conducted at McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta with Georgia Tech serving as the host school. The women’s portion will take place March 16-19, with the men’s following March 23-26.
