Present Michael Phelps an Award

Ever wonder what it’s like to present Michael Phelps with an award? Olympians, officials and coaches present awards all the time, but most swimmers may never get the chance. At the Charlotte UltraSwim we decided to remedy the situation and give you a first person “video” point of view of the process. There isn’t much to it, but it’s fun nonetheless. With the help of the swimswam crew, who sponsored the 200 butterfly at the swimming meet, we captured this video for you… And, yes, that’s a GoPro strapped to Mel’s head.

Many thanks to SwimMAC for hosting another great USA Swimming Grand Prix competition.

When I looked over there and saw Mel with the camera on his head I about fell out of my chair! It was awesome! I have been waiting for the video. Mel “Fanboy” Stewart you rock! SwimSwam is setting a very high bar and I hope you guys continue your innovative and creative work. I cannot wait to see what you guys have in store for Trials.

I was sitting next to someone from the Springs this weekend and they didn’t even know about SwimSwam. They do now.

Yes! I watched the webcast (during the night for me) and I saw a man with a camera on his head who gave the medals. He looked like a miner with a safety lamp. And it was Mel Stewart. It was very impressive.
