Princeton Secures Verbal from Brazilian NAG Record-holder Lucas Tudoras (2022)

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Lucas Tudoras from Sao Paolo, Brazil has made a verbal commitment to the application process* at Princeton University for the 2022-23 school year.

“I’m thrilled and honored to announce my verbal commitment to the application process at Princeton University! I would like to thank my family, my coaches, my teachers, my teammates, my girlfriend, and my friends for all of their support. Go Tigers!”

Tudoras is a senior at Colégio Benjamin Constant, the German school that Brazilian Olympic silver medalist Gustavo Borges attended. He will graduate in December 2021 and head to New Jersey in the fall of 2022 to join Conor McKenna, James Pan, and Lucas Strobek in the class of 2026. Tudoras speaks Portuguese, English, Romanian (his parents are Romanians), and German. He told SwimSwam “I chose Princeton because of its tradition of academic excellence, its growing swimming program with big goals, led by Coach Matt Crispino, and my great future teammates.”

Tudoras trains under Wlad Veiga at Clube Paineiras do Morumby and specializes in 100/200 free, 100/200 fly, and 200 back. He holds 10 Brazilian age group records (200 SCM free and 200 SCM back 15 years; 50 SCM free and 100/200 SCM fly 14 years; 50 SCM free, 200 SCM back, 200 SCM IM, and 200 LCM IM 13 years; and 200 LCM IM 12 years) that used to belong to Murilo Sartori, Pedro Henrique da Motta, Lucas Salatta, João Garcia, Lucas Santos, and Andre Augusto dos Santos.

He won 15 medals (10 individual and 5 relays) at the 2019 South American Youth Championship 2019 and won the high point award for the championship. His most recent meet was the Trofeo Brasil de Nataçao in December 2020 when he nabbed 4 personal bests in the 100 free, 200 back, and 100/200 fly.

Last year he was named “The Best 13-14 Years Brazilian Male Swimmer of the Decade” by Best Swimming.

*Note: A verbal commitment between an Ivy League coach and a prospective student-athlete is not an offer of admission, as only the Admission Office has that authority. The coach can only commit his or her support in the admission process. Ivy League Admission Offices do not issue “Likely Letters” before October 1 of the prospective student-athlete’s senior year of high school. The Likely Letter, while issued after an initial read of the student’s application, is not an offer of admission to the university.

If you have a commitment to report, please send an email with a photo (landscape, or horizontal, looks best) and a quote to [email protected].
