Psych Sheets for Westmont TYR Pro Swim Series Highlighted by Summer McIntosh

TYR Pro Swim Series — Westmont

  • Westmont, IL — FMC Natatorium
  • March 5-8, 2025
  • LCM (50 Meters
  • Meet Central
  • Psych Sheets

The pre-scratch Psych Sheets for the Westmont TYR Pro Swim Series just dropped, and there are some big names, and some big races, we could get to see next week. Many of these athletes are competing for the first time since the Olympics, or the first time this year. This means we will also get our first look at some of the medal contenders for this year’s World Championships in July

While many swimmers are sitting this meet out to focus on their NCAA Championships meets at the end of the month, we will not be deprived of World Record Holders to watch.

Summer McIntosh is entered in three events next week. The 200 fly, 400 IM, and the 200 IM. We saw McIntosh race a few weeks ago at a sectional meet in Florida, where she swam 8:10 in the 800 freestyle, becoming only the 2nd woman in history to do so.

She also recently announced her plans to move to a pro-team after this year’s Worlds (but she is particularly looking at Texas who will be at the meet), and her intention to add a 5th event to her lineup this year, but her events this week are already a part of her typical schedule.

Regan Smith is entered in five events, starting with the 200 fly. She is also entered in the 200 free, 200 back, 100 back, and 100 fly. This will be the first time we get to watch her swim long course since the Games last year, but she is coming off a very successful SC Worlds, where she broke every single backstroke World Record.

Breaststroke World Record Holder Kate Douglass will also be competing, though she opted out of the 200 IM, where she is the Olympic Silver medalist. She is entered in the 50 breast, 100 breast, 200 breast, 50 fly, and 50 freestyle.

Michael Andrew will also be competing, swimming his first long course meet on U.S. soil since he began training with the pro group at ASU after he missed the Olympic team last year. He is entered in the 50 free, 50 breast, 100 breast, 50 back, 50 fly, and 200 IM. A few weeks ago, he competed at the 2025 Copa Internacional in Mexico, where he won the 50 breast, 100 breast, and 50 back, and finished 3rd in the 100 back, but he was pretty far off his best times.

Other major names we could see at the meet are Simone Manuel, Shaine Casas, Hunter Armstrong, Lily King, Carson Foster, Kasia Wasick, Meg Haris, Mary Sophie- Harvey, Luka Mijatovic, and Aaron Shackell (who we have not seen much of since he left Texas to train with his club team last semester).

One thing is sure, we should see some very fast swimming.

We will apparently also witness Vivien Jackl’s first meet under Tusup’s coaching. She is entered in quite the number of events.

I don’t recall but are the stroke 50s usually part of swim series?

Oleksiak is entered in 50-100-200 free, 50-100 fly. It will be interesting to see what this means for Canada’s relays.

Masse entered in the three backs

MSH is entered in 100-200-400 free, both ims, 100 fly and 200 br, hoping to see maybe a couple of PBs!

we probably cant read too much into her event selection but i wouldnt be surprised to see kate back off (or retire from) the 200 im in favor of the 50 free (given theres a conflict at trials) this season…

she seems to not like swimming the 200 im (boycotting it entirely in 2022 and skipping the scm version at a few world cup stops) and she might be taking a similar route to alex who appears to be focusing more on power work this year (likely to make the runway to la look less daunting / taxing)

yep…breast and sprint free from here on out. Easier training schedule for swim/life balance too.

I think McIntosh might be a little quicker in the 200 IM, maybe 2:07.3 ish. Also maybe MSH at 1:56.4 and Regan at 2:04.4, but these all seem quite realistic

A lot of these seem fast to me. First PSS of the is often a bit sluggish.

I guess it depends on the athlete, but McIntosh swims fast all year round, and given her recent 800 free it seems she’s in good form right now.

That Samuel from Australia that is currently seeded no.1 in M400fr. Is that the same Samuel that we know?
