Psych sheets have been released for the 2022 Purdue Invite, which begins on Thursday. The meet will consist of hosts Purdue, Cal Baptist, Florida International (women only), Illinois State (women only), Louisville, Marshall (women only), Missouri State, Northwestern, Southern Illinois, Navy (men only), and Indiana State (women). Notably, Southern Illinois. Notably, Southern Illinois is coming off of another midseason invite, the A3 performance invite (which they hosted).

Included on the psych sheets are the complete relay lineups for both Northwestern and Southern Illinois (women only), although none of the relay lineups for any of the other schools are shown.

Each swimmer can swim a maximum of four individual events.

The women’s sprint freestyle will see competition between Louisville’s Gabi Albiero and Northwestern’s Jasmine Nocentini, who are the top two seeds in both the 50 and 100 free. Albiero is also entered in the 100 fly and 200 free, which are back to back events. While the 100 fly is one of Albiero’s marquee events, she doesn’t typically race the 200 free, holding a best time of 1:48.13 from high school. However, she raced the event at last week’s Louisville-Notre Dame dual meet, where she went 1:49.37.

Nocentini will continue her trend of swimming breaststroke, opting for the 100 breast over the 200 free (which she swam at Big Tens last season) on day two. She will also be swimming breaststroke on both 200 medley and 400 medley relay. Being the top seed in the 100 breast, Nocentini has raced the event at her last two dual meets. To qualify for short course worlds, she also swam the 50-meter breast (SCM) at an age group meet in Calgary last weekend and hit the FINA ‘A’ cut, but was ultimately not named onto the Italian Short Course Worlds roster that was released today.

Federico Burdisso, an Olympic bronze medalist out of Northwestern, is entered in the 50 free, 100 fly, 100 free, and 200 fly. He holds the top seed in both the 100 free and 200 fly, and will only have the 200 breast in between the two events if he decides to swim both.

Another notable Northwestern sighting is the absence of senior Emma Lepisova, who was the team’s medley relay backstroker at NCAAs last year. Although she is listed on the team roster, she has yet to compete this season. Instead, Justine Murdock will be swimming backstroke on both medley relays this meet.

Louisville holds a significant portion of the top seeds, having the fastest entry time in 17 out of the 24 individually contested events. However, given that they had another invite last week, Southern Illinois swimmers also hold many of the higher seeds in multiple events.
