Purdue Announces 2015-16 Schedule

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A bevy of home meets, highlighted by the return of the Purdue Invitational in November and the men’s opportunity to host the Big Ten Championships in February, highlight the 2015-16 Purdue swimming and diving schedules.

The Boilermaker Aquatic Center is set to host the men’s Big Ten Championships (Feb. 24-27) for the first time since 2009. The women are up next in the rotation and are scheduled to host Big Tens in February 2017 for the first time since the 2009-10 season.

Additionally, the Zone C Diving Championships (March 10-12) are also returning to the Boilermaker Aquatic Center for the fifth time since 2002. Purdue hosted Zones in 2005, 2010 and 2013 as well.

The three-day, six-session Purdue Invitational returns for the first time since November 2012. Multiple teams will compete at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center the weekend of November 20-22 in a meet that will serve as the main focal point of the fall training program as well as a Big Tens preview.

Other home meets include a women’s triple dual on Halloween with Notre Dame and Ohio State. A week later, Iowa visits West Lafayette for a Friday evening co-ed dual. The men also have home duals against Miami (Ohio) and Eastern Michigan planned. And the annual Indiana Intercollegiates (Oct. 17) will once again serve as the first official home meet of the season.

But the final days of February will prove to be among the most action packed that the Boilermaker Aquatic Center has seen in some time. A men’s First Chance meet is planned for the weekend of Feb. 20-21. The four-day, seven-session Big Ten Championships get underway the night of Feb. 24 with the opening night relays. A long course time trial meet and/or the women’s annual Boiler-Make-It NCAA Last Chance meet will be held Feb. 28.

Georgia Tech and the Atlanta Sports Council will be hosting both the men’s and women’s NCAA Championships this season at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center. The women’s national championship meet is set for March 17-19 and the men’s March 24-26. It will mark the first time since 2013 when Indianapolis hosted that the same aquatic center will be the site of both the men’s and women’s championships.

Michigan is hosting the women’s Big Ten Championships (Feb. 17-20) this year.

For their winter training trip, the Boilermakers will be traveling to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, once again. The co-ed trip during winter break on campus is tentatively set to begin shortly after Christmas and conclude prior to the spring semester getting underway Jan. 11.

Purdue will open the season with an Oct. 2 co-ed dual at Michigan State that will be contested with a long course format. The Boilermakers also visit Bloomington Jan. 23 for the annual rivalry dual with Indiana, which is being contested as a co-ed meet again this year. The dual meet portion of the schedule concludes with the annual Big Ten Triple Duals, which Northwestern is hosting this year after replacing Wisconsin in the rotation last season. Purdue is next in line to host Minnesota and Northwestern for the Big Ten Triple Duals in January 2017.
