Purdue’s Kaersten Meitz Named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week

Purdue’s Kaersten Meitz was named Big Ten swimmer of the week after her performance in their dual meet against Indiana. Meitz won the 1,000 free (9:44.58) and 500 free (4:46.62) in that meet. Diver of the week went to Northwestern’s Olivia Rosendahl. Rosendahl was also the co-freshman of the week with Indiana’s Lilly King.

  • Collected a pair of first-place finishes in the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:44.58), 500-yard freestyle (4:46.62) and contributed to a second-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:24.23) against Indiana
  • Career-best time in the 1,000-yard freestyle was 10 seconds faster than the next competitor and ranks No. 6 in the nation, while time in the 500-yard freestyle is an NCAA provisional qualifying time
  • Earns her first career Big Ten Swimmer of the Week award
  • Last Purdue Swimmer of the Week: Allie Davis (Jan. 6, 2016)

Olivia Rosendahl, Northwestern

Fr. – Los Angeles, Calif. – Immaculate Heart

  • Swept the springboard events with a score of 317.63 on one-meter and 347.93 in three-meter diving en route to a Northwestern victory over Iowa
  • Scores in both events are NCAA Zone qualifying marks, and score in the one-meter event was a Norris Aquatics Center pool record
  • Earns her first career Diver of the Week honor and fourth Freshman of the Week award
  • Last Northwestern Diver of the Week: Cosima Lenz (Nov. 15, 2011)
  • Last Northwestern Freshman of the Week: Olivia Rosendahl (Jan. 20, 2016)

Evansville, Ind. – FJ Reitz

  • Collected two first-place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.23) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:12.60) in the dual meet win over Purdue
  • Times in both events are NCAA provisional qualifying times
  • Earns her second career Freshman of the Week honor
  • Last Indiana Freshman of the Week: Miranda Tucker (Nov. 18, 2015)
