SwimMAC’s Andrea Georoff won the women’s 100 fly in 1:00.61, for her 2nd win of the meet. That’s right on her career-best time. The 29-year old had a bit of a disappointing Olympic Trials meet, but may be saving her taper for the U.S. Open, given the better results in Greensboro.

Kentucky sophomore Lucas Gerotto swam a lifetime best to win the men’s version of that race in 54.44. That put him ahead of Portugal National/Louisville swimmer Pedro Oliveira in 55.61. NC State’s John Newell, who had a great 200 fly on Thursday, was 3rd in 55.93.

In the women’s 100 breaststroke, Elizabeth Roberts won in 1:12.17, but the real standout was Lakeside 14-year old Kennedy Lohman in a best time of 1:13.63. That ranks her 12th in the country among 13-14’s this season.

Carlos Almeida won the 100 breast, an event he’ll swim at the Olympics, in 1:02.26. That bested SwimMAC pro swimmer Nelson Westby in 1:02.29. For Almeida, that’s about half-a-second away from his best time, which leaves him in good position headed for the Games.

Westby would go on to swim a 55.67 time trial in the 100 fly at the end of the night.

Many of the big names at this meet sat out the Saturday session, including the likes of Jack Conger and Cassidy Bayer. Bayer will resume her quest for more National Age Group Records on Sunday in the 200 fly.

The standout swims from Saturday still came from the junior ranks. Abigail Speers from Machine Aquatics swam a strong 26.80 to win. That’s a strong mid-season swim for the high school senior-to-be.

On the boys’ side, Curl Burke’s Brian Tsau won the men’s 400 free in 4:03.68. That makes him the 7th-ranked 15-year old in the country this season. That’s a four-second lifetime best for him, and a total of 12 seconds of drop in the last three weeks.

Russia’s Arkady Vyatchanin highlighted the action on the third day of action at the Swimming Hall of Fame with a 54.65 to win the men’s 100 backstroke. There were few highlights here, though, as the Gator Swim Clubers prepared to depart for a collective pre-Olympic training camp.

Indiana All-American Eric Ress won the men’s 200 IM in 2:05.05.

A trio of collegiate swimmers from the state of Florida had a great battle in the women’s 50 free, and as the wake cleared the result was a tie between Florida State’s Tiffany Oliver and Miami’s Kelsi Hall in 26.11. Florida Olympian Sarah Bateman was just a hair behind in 26.12. She’s going to have to hit her taper hard over the next two weeks, but that’s what she’s done before.
