Quah Ting Wen Scores New Singaporean Record In 50 Freestyle

While competing at the Singapore National Age Group Championships at OCBC Aquatic Centre this weekend, two-time Olympian Quah Ting Wen scored a new national record in the women’s 50 LCM freestyle.

In tonight’s final, the 24-year-old registered a time of 25.27 to not only claim the gold, but to also overtake the previous Singaporean national mark of 25.38 held by Amanda Lim since the 2009 Asian Youth Games. Quah’s victorious time also clinched a probable SEA Games berth in the event, making it the 4th event in which she surpassed the ‘A’ qualifying mark. Quah also made the qualifying mark in the 100m backstroke and 50/100m butterfly.

Of her performance, Quah said she was ‘very pleased’ in what she calls ‘an on and off event’ event for her.  The Age Group Championships marks her first meet back since undergoing minor surgery late last year. Her left arm had an implant removed, one which was inserted after a surfing accident back in 2011.

Quah Ting Wen is sister to Quah Zheng Wen, the Singaporean national swimmer and fellow Olympian who was just deemed eligible to compete for Cal at the Men’s NCAA Championships.

And she’s also firmer UCLA school record -holder in 50-100 yard frees and still holds Bruin record in the 100 fly (43 flat!).

Well I think that’s what “fellow” Singapirean Joseph Schooling’ll go this week in Indy. Ting Quah’s record is in the low 52s.

Who.knows, her brother might have been a candidate to swim for UCLA were it nit for fact men’s program killed 22 years ago and never reinstated.

I am not going to lie, I do not understand what you are saying. Please elaborate on what these records are. Ting Quah is in the low 52s? Why did you mention Schooling in this? where is the 43 flat coming from. What is her time in the 50 and 100 free? None of what you are saying means anything
