Queens Men, Women win 4th Consecutive NCAA Division II Titles

2018 NCAA Division II Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships

The Queens University of Charlotte men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams each won their fourth consecutive NCAA Division II title on Saturday in Greensboro, North Carolina. The men’s team scored 558 points, or 251 more than second-place Cal Baptist. The women won with 574.5 points, beating runners-up Drury by 173.5 points.

The Royals won a combined 17 events and set 7 NCAA Division II records and one meet record during the four-day meet. Junior Marius Kusch, who broke NCAA records in the 200 IM and 100 free individually, and as part of the 200 medley relay, was named NCAA Male Swimmer of the Meet for the second year in a row. Queens Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Planning and Leadership Development/Director of Swimming Operations, Jeff Dugdale, was named the 2018 NCAA Women’s Swimming Coach of the Year.

Guy’s, we’ve only been a program for 8 years. I don’t think that anyone was looking for Drury or Truman when they were on their runs to go D-1. I’m probably wrong here.

This is the second time I’ve had to address this ignorance that we seem to have against foreign swimmers (Assuming that the person making this comment is American). They all speak English, they all attend classes, and no we don’t have any German, French, Spanish or Swedish is a second language courses. Our swimmers are only greatly enriched by the interaction that they have with these foreign student athletes.

Nope! With only 1800 on campus I don’t think that’s going to happen. And why should they? They have built a great program with a mix of both international and US base kids. Maybe more D1 schools should take a look at how Queen’s is training their kids. They seem to be doing something right to win 4 years in a row.
