Race Video: Schneider Wins 50 Free at the 2014 Arena Grand Prix in Charlotte

Men’s 50 Freestyle – Final – Reported by SwimSwam

Josh Schneider stepped up to win the 50 freestyle, swimming a 22.17, which ties him for 19th in the world this year. Bruno Fratus reached in for second place at 22.27, followed by Kristian Gkolomeev at 22.38. Anthony Ervin and Cullen Jones both dropped a few tenths from their morning swims to finish 4th and 5th at 22.49 and 22.81, respectively. Ali Khalafalla was the only other swimmer to break 23, finishing in 6th at 22.93.
Paul Powers won the B-final of the men’s 50 freestyle with a time of 23.18.

This Greek guy, Gkolomeev, I remember him from European champs in Belgrade.Seems like his got no parents,his father died in 2010 and mother when he was younger,and few days ago lost his college teammate John Servati.Born in 1993 already split 18.9 in 50y free.I’d put my money on him for the future,takes alot of bals to go thrue what he’s been.Respect.
