The 2015 Southeast Asia Games keep charging along in Singapore, and we’ve got race videos from the fourth day of action.
You can find race videos from a number of day 4 events in both swimming and diving below, courtesy of Sport Singapore on YouTube.
Vietnam’s Vien Thi Anh Nguyen was the star of day 4, breaking two Games records and picking up two individual gold medals with wins in the 200 fly and 200 free, a tough single-session double that was separated by just over an hour.
Singapore continued to expand its lead in the medal count, with Joseph Schooling winning once individually and once on a relay. Tao Li and Zheng Wen Quah also won events on day 4.

I don’t think Schooling will be happy with 52.1 when his PB is 51.69. His leadoff time in the 4x100m was 49.74 which is over a second slower than the 48.58. Getting tired?
Re: Schooling’s 100m fly. This was a good swim, so I apologize because this post will come across as overly critical to some. 52.1 is very respectable. Schooling is a world class talent, and a definite contender for a medal in Kazan and Rio, but I will be extremely surprised if that strategy wins him a medal of any color at WC or the OGs.
23.93/28.20. Difference between 50 splits: 4.27. Ouch (in my experience, the best 100 fly/breast swimmers have a *roughly* 3s difference, with outliers like Phelps at 2-2.5, others closer to 3.5). Stroke counts were solid with 18 and 19 per 50. Shows pretty consistent DPS, as he went to 15m off the start and maybe 12m… Read more »
TL;DR Schooling is a badass but I will eat my wallet and everything in it if anyone wins a medal at Kazan in the 100 fly with a 4 second difference between 50s.
Breathing on the first stroke off of the turn is the way to go I think. Chad le Clos breathed on the first stroke off of every wall except the start in his scm wr. It’s probably not faster but just barely. I think the small amount of time you lose, you get paid back by the quicker oxygen. Schooling also did this at ncaa off of the 3rd and 4th wall I think, not sure on the second wall. But that’s good enough for me. I’ve been breathing on the first stroke for the past month. It’s really not that hard. Breathing on the first stroke cost about .10 but you gain that back easily with the quicker oxygen.… Read more »
52.1 in the 100 fly. Pretty much expected. Everyone got too excited after his 100 free
I admit it, I did get too excited….
I was hoping for a sub 52 but he was out perfectly at 23.9 but needs back end speed.
