Fisher also picked up gold in the 100 freestyle later on in the meet, hitting a 51.81 as the only swimmer to crack 52 in the final. Cooper Lowell followed for Clarke County High School with a 52.15 and Bruton High School’s Zach Hubbard wasn’t too far off with a 52.32.

Those swims for Fisher are significant improvements from where he was at last year when he swam 23.65 and 55.71 PBs in the 50 and 100 free, respectively.

Also winning two events over the weekend was Kris Schultz from Altavista Combined School. Schultz won the 200 IM by a decent margin, touching in a 2:01.01 to finish more than 4 seconds ahead of silver medalist Caleb Patton‘s 2:05.40 and bronze medalist Graham Minaruk‘s 2:18.17. He was back later to win the 500 freestyle, dipping under the 5-minute mark with a 4:57.55. That was enough to beat out Kolby King‘s 5:00.16 and Cam Holcomb‘s 5:16.11.

Schultz’s winning times were both new PBs, lowering them from a 2:08.39 in the IM and a 5:11.41 in the 500.

200 IM silver medalist Caleb Patton pulled off a victory in the 100 backstroke for Marion Senior High, winning the event in a 56.49. That’s nearly 2 seconds quicker than his entry time of 58.47. He was a decent margin ahead of 100 back silver medalist Hampton Wohlford for Radford High School (1:00.23) and bronze medalist Nathan Etzler for James River High School (1:02.21).

Giles High School senior Ben Hart narrowly beat out Fort Chiswell’s Kolby King in the 200 freestyle. Hart got his hand on the wall in a 1:52.36 while King was right behind with a 1:52.78. John David Moser wasn’t too far off to round out the top 3 with a 1:53.32.

Moser paired his 200 freestyle bronze with a 100 butterfly gold, winning the event with a 54.63 to shave more than 2 seconds off his entry time of 57.00. Zach Hubbard and Adam Harosky joined him on the podium with a 56.26 and 59.24 for silver and bronze, respectively.

William St John gave East Rockingham their sole individual victory of the meet, taking the 100 breast title with a 1:01.51. That swim for St John was less than a second off the meet record of 1:00.84 set by Sam Updike in 2018. St John was joined on the podium by Graham High School’s Conor Douthat (1:06.84) and Strasburg High School’s Nathan Cadle (1:07.29).

  • The Radford boys won the 200 medley (1:47.75) and 200 freestyle relays (1:37.42).
