Robbie Renwick and Camilla Hattersley closed out the Scottish Short Course Championships by setting new national records in both the men’s and women’s 200 freestyle.
Renwick did not have an easy time of it in the men’s event being pushed by Stephen Milne throughout the entire race. Renwick led Milne by seven one-hundredths of a second at the halfway point and by 35 one-hundredths of a second at the 150 meter mark. He eventually took the event in a time of 1:43.58 five one-hundredths of a second ahead of Milne who hit the wall in a time of 1:43.63.
Both men were under the old national record of 1:44.04 set by Andrew Hunter in 2009.
18 year old Duncan Scott, who finished fourth in the race, set a new age group record hitting the wall in a time of 1:44.80. Scott also set an age group record in the 400 IM posting a 4:08.04 finishing just behind Lewis Smith who took the event in a time of 4:07.64.
In the same event Lander Hendrickx, who finished fourth, set a new Belgian record touching in a time of 4:10.28.
Camilla Hattersley took the women’s 200 freestyle in a time of 1:56.52 finishing over a second ahead of the field and under Caitlin McClatchey‘s national record time of 1:56.56.
Ross Murdoch and Kathryn Johnstone both finished off their sweeps of the breaststroke events. Murdoch took the men’s 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:04.04 while Johnstone won the women’s event in a time of 2:25.17.
