Rider University Keeps Fly/Back Specialist Lauren Kerner In State

Lauren Kerner, a butterfly/backstroke specialist from Cherry Hill, New Jersey, has elected to remain in state and given her verbal commitment to Rider University for 2017-18. Kerner swims for the Jersey Wahoos Swim Club in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey and attends Cherry Hill High School East, where she is a member of the school’s swim team.

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim at Rider University. Rider was definitely the best fit for me both athletically and academically. The team and the coaches made me feel right at home on my visit and I can’t wait to officially be a Bronc!!!”

After representing Cherry Hill East at the New Jersey Public Schools Team State Tournament, Kerner went on to have strong meets at both the short-course and long-course versions of the Middle Atlantic LSC Senior Championships. At the spring meet she competed in the 100/200/500 free, 100/200 back, 100/200 fly, and 200 IM. In the summer she repeated all but the freestyle events, and finished as high as 27th in the 200m fly. Both meets produced personal-best times for Kerner.

Top SCY times:

  • 200 fly – 2:09.77
  • 100 fly – 59.74
  • 200 back – 2:11.84
  • 100 back – 1:01.65
  • 200 IM – 2:15.09
