On each day of the official Olympic torch relay, carrying the Olympic flame to the Olympic cauldron in Rio de Janeiro, the Rio2016 Facbeook page is posting brilliant and spectacular images from one of the world’s unique and most beautiful landscapes. Each day until August 5th, we will bring you these stunning images.
On day 59 the Olympic torch continued its journey through the state of Paraná, hitting five more cities after visiting four on day 58. The torch visited Matelândia, Medianeira, São Miguel do Iguaçu, Santa Terezinha de Itaipu, and Foz do Iguaçu.
All five are municipalities in the western region of the state, with Foz do Iguaçu being the largest at about 265,000 inhabitants. It borders both Paraguay and Argentina.
