On each day of the official Olympic torch relay, carrying the Olympic flame to the Olympic cauldron in Rio de Janeiro, the Rio2016 Facbeook page is posting brilliant and spectacular images from one of the world’s unique and most beautiful landscapes. Each day until August 5th, we will bring you these stunning images.
On the 92nd day of the Olympic torch relay the torch travelled over 100 km and through six different cities, ultimately ending up on the opposite side of Guanabara Bay from the city of Rio de Janeiro, some 20 km out of the host city.
The six cities the torch travelled through were Saquarema, Rio Bonito, Tangua, Itaborai, Sao Goncalo, and Niteroi. Beginning in Saquarema, which borders the Atlantic Ocean, the torch travelled north west through the cities before ultimately ending up in Niteroi, bordering Guanabara Bay.
With the torch finishing up in Niteroi on Tuesday, it goes into it’s final three days on the road, culminating at the Opening Ceremonies on Friday.
