Rising Star Coaches named to the USA National Junior Team Camp Staff

USA Swimming today announced the staff selected to guide next month’s National Junior Team Camp, which is slated for April 8-12 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

The aim of the annual camp is to identify elite 18-and-under swimmers and introduce them to the USA Swimming National Team culture of sportsmanship and excellence, while providing younger athletes the opportunity to experience a training camp situation.

Tim O’Brien (Austin, Texas) of Nitro Swimming and Chris Plumb (Carmel, Ind.) of the Carmel Swim Club will serve as head coaches for the camp.

Assistant coaches for the camp include:

· Sue Chen (Rockville, Md./Machine Aquatics)

· David Gibson (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./ Swim Fort Lauderdale)

· Peter Morgan (Fairfax Station, Va./Nation’s Capital Swim Club)

· Steve Morsilli (San Ramon, Calif./ Pleasanton Seahawks)

· Jason Turcotte (Duluth, Ga./Dynamo Swim Club)

· Peter Wright (Sugar Land, Texas/First Colony Swim Team)

Bill Rose (Mission Viejo, Calif.) of the Mission Viejo Nadadores will be present as a camp consultant.

Like bugs to a bright light you all flock to the bold writing. Tim Obrien and Chris Plumb (which not a single person mentioned above) are the head coaches and ARE rising star coaches for sure but the headline is about the coaches of “rising stars” (I think) The assistant coaches are clearly some our club systems most accomplished coaches and Mel knows that. The headline is worded so poorly its hard to tell. Take a deep breath fans

Not sure how Pete Morgan got on that list and John Flanagan didn’t.

That makes sense… but man, headlines shouldn’t have to be deciphered.

The word “rising” is not a good fit. These guys are all just flat out stars.

When the adjective describes the wrong noun, people read into it what it literally says rather than what it meant to say… Rising star coaches vs Rising star’s coaches

Can we all just agree that all these coaches were decided for a reason? Whether they’d be inexperienced or experienced like Coach Rose, all these coaches are great with outstanding results.

Pete Morgan is still much too young and inexperienced to be called a rising star!

agree, but i would say that about most of the staff. just because they aren’t college coaches doesn’t mean they aren’t excellent and experienced coaches!!!

Very confused about Weirdo’s comment. Most of the staff is in their 40’s-50’s with outstanding credentials.

Pete has coached several Olympians…including Ed Moses. He is one of the founders of NCAP and one of the most senior coaches in the region/country.
