Rob Ehrenborg to Stay In-State With Commitment to Louisville

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey

Rob Ehrenborg of Fisherville, KY has announced his verbal commitment to remain in-state and swim at Louisville for the fall of 2022.

“I am humbled and excited to announce my commitment to swim for the University of Louisville. I would like to thank my family, coaches, and friends for all they have done to get me to this next chapter in my life. Go Cards.”

Ehrenborg is extremely familiar with the Louisville program, as he already swims for Cardinal Aquatics, Louisville’s club team. Amy Albiero, the wife of Louisville head coach Arthur Albiero, is the head coach of the club, while her husband volunteers with the program as an assistant coach. In addition, many of Louisville’s collegiate and pro swimmers represent Cardinal Aquatics at USA Swimming competitions, including Kelsi Dahlia, Nick Albiero, Mallory Comerford, and Zach Harting

Ehrenborg is a sprint freestyle specialist, who could develop into a major pick-up for the Cardinal. In the 50 freestyle, his best time of 20.62 would have ranked 9th on the roster last season, with a full year left to improve his time before arriving on campus. In addition, his time in the 100 freestyle also ranked Ehrenborg in the top-10 on Louisville’s roster last season. Although he does not have a clear third event, Ehrenborg is also strong in the 100 breaststroke, where he holds a USA Swimming Futures cut.

Best Times SCY:

  • 50 freestyle – 20.62
  • 100 freestyle – 46.23
  • 100 breaststroke – 58.08
  • 200 freestyle – 1:50.80

At the 2021 ACC Championships, the Louisville men claimed the team title with a total of 1181 points, narrowly defeating NC State (1179 points). In order to qualify for finals and score in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, swimmers had to swim times of 19.87 and 43.81, respectively.

With his commitment, Ehrenborg is set to join backstroke/IM specialist Guy Brooks and backstroker Charlie Crush in Louisville’s class of 2026. All three join a rising Louisville group and will be the first recruiting class to commit to the school since the team won its first ever NCAA relay title in March. At that Championships, Louisville also had its highest finish ever, coming in 5th.
