Russia Names 38 Member Team for European Short Course Championships

The team representing Russia at the upcoming European Short Course Championships in Netanya, Israel will consist of 16 women and 22 men. The team was chosen based off of the results of the Russian Short Course Championships which were held in Kazan from November 8th-12th.

The Russians currently have seven athletes who top the world rankings including: Evgeny Sedov (50 freestyle), Alexander Krasnyikh (200 and 400 freestyle), Nikita Konovalov (50 and 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke), Andrey Shabasov (200 backstroke), Oleg Kostin (50, 100 and 200 breaststroke), Sergey Fesikov (100 IM) and Veronika Popova (200 freestyle).

A notable absence from the team is Svetlana Chimrova who set a new national record in the women’s 100 butterfly at the Russian Championships.

At the 2013 European Short Course Championships in Herning the Russian finished first in the medal table with eight gold, four silver and three bronze.
