The Miami Hurricanes have announced a mid-season addition to their 2014-2015 team: Russian Ksenia Yuskova has signed a financial aid agreement and is expected to begin her career on January 10th in a tri-meet against Rutgers and Tulane.
Yuskova, who is 18, is primarily a middle-distance freestyler. In meters, her best times are (LCM/SCM):
- 50 free – 26.88/25.79
- 100 free – 56.25/54.90
- 200 free – 2:00.44/1:56.64
- 400 free – 4:12.28/4:09.53
Per the Speedo Swim Time Converter, those short course meters times calculate to:
- 50 free – 23.2
- 100 free – 49.4
- 200 free – 1:45.0
- 500 free – 4:42
If those conversions hold up, and being a good short course meters swimmer they have a chance, she will immediately become the team’s best 200/500 freestyler, and will be #1 and #1A with senior Heather Arseth in the 50/100 freestyle.
While Miami still doesn’t have nearly enough depth to contend for the overall ACC team title, Yuskova should allow them to climb up the ladder from their 9th-place finish last season. She also gives them a 400 free relay, along with Arseth, that is top-5 worthy in the ACC.
That’s my boy hustling down in Coral Gables! Keep it up Andy
You might have forgotten that she will swim in the backstroke events also. I think she will hold up after training with Trojan Swim club for awhile immediately before she left to Miami.
