Russian Open Water Swimmer Vladimir Dyatchin Banned for Doping

Two-time open water world champion, Vladimir Dyatchin, has been suspended for two years by the Russian Anti-Doping Agency, and has instead announced his immediate retirement.  Dyatchin has told media that the positive test was a result of the substance “having entered his body accidentally.”

Dyatchin was provisionally suspended in July, 2014 from both competition and organized practices, in accordance with FINA guidelines.

The Russian federation has backdated the two-year ban to July 4, 2014, which apparently prompted Dyatchin‘s retirement announcement, telling the R-Sport news agency, “I will not compete again of course. I will concentrate on organizing events.”

Dyatchin won gold in the 10k open water competition at both the 2003 and 2007 World Championships.  He finished in seventh place at the 2012 London Olympics.

According to the World Anti-Doping Code, an organization retains authority to complete its results management process even if an athlete retires prior to their conclusion, so the suspension is still validated.

Errors from my part. My real name is back.
And talking about Russia, if I was an American swimmer, I would be very careful to what I drink or eat next summer in Kazan.
I usually hate all the stories of plot theories but we never know. 🙂
Michael Phelps has perhaps been cautious not to go there. 🙂
KGB agents could be in the pool to infect biggest Russian opponents. 🙂

How many Russian positive cases have we learned in the last 12 months with track and field and swimming?
The number must be very impressive.

At least he didn’t provide some ridiculous details like “Oh, I bought some supplement at GNC shop and the shop assistant was ok”, or “The chiropractor doctor did it to me”, or “But I used it only to help me studying for exams”.

You would be surprised how many times that happens, coach Erik. Just like criminals here in America so frequently buy pants a thrift shops that have drugs and weapons in the pockets. But seriously do these athletes not realize doping doesn’t just affect them? It affects all their fans and supporters, their tea,, their federation and the way the whole world sees a sport! Seriously! I’m so appalled by the uptick in doping in our sport

Please let us know when a Russian swimmer isn’t dirty. You’ll save yourself some bandwidth.
