Russian Swimmers suspended after Failing Doping Tests

It was announced today that former European Short Course Champion Ksenia Moskvina and 2012 Olympian Ekaterina Andreeva would be suspended from competition by the Russian Anti-doping Agency for doping offences.

This was the second offence for Moskvina, who won the 100 backstroke at the European Short Course Championships, for that reason she will be suspended for six years.

“Ksenia Moskvina is disqualified for a period of six years, starting from November 25, 2012, for a repeat breach of anti-doping rules,” RUSADA said in a website statement.

Andreeva, who competed for Russia in the London Olympics in the 200 IM will be suspended for 18 months after failing a doping test dating back to November 30th.

The specific natures of both offences were not disclosed.
