The Rutgers University Aquatics Center saw its women swimmers simply dominate the visiting Georgetown and Providence teams yesterday, carrying twelve first place finishes across the meet’s thirteen events to top both opponents on the Scarlet Knight’s Senior Day.

Rutger’s wins included Scarlet Knight sprinter Sarah Coyne topping the 50y freestyle field, winning the event in a time of 24.47 and leading a 1-4 Rutgers sweep of the event. Coyne was also part of the winning 200y medley relay (1:44.55), where she anchored the squad of Joanna Wu (26.21), Greta Leberfinger (29.27), and Morgan Pfaff (25.52) with her split of 23.55.
The women’s 100y freestyle saw a tie between teammates Kiely Meghan and Greta Leberfinger, as both women touched the wall in 53.17. Senior Leberfinger also went on to be victorious in the 100y breaststroke with a first place, season-best time of 1:03.41.
Georgetown’s Ryan Murphy was able to break the home team’s winning streak, as she just out-touched Emily Erwin of the Scarlet Knights 58.86 to 58.94 for the sole non-Rutgers win on the day. Georgetown also made an impact in the 200y butterfly event where, although Thomasin Lee from Rutgers won the race in 2:06.92, there was an army of point-earning Hoyas behind her in Shana McLaughlin, Erica Fabbri, Madeleine Quinn, who finished in 2-4 places, respectively.
Providence College’s top two individual wins came in the form of Katherine Fallon’s third place finish in the women’s 200y freestyle (2:19.48) and teammate Kelley Buckley’s third place result in the 200y IM (2:19.48).
