After getting 5th in the 100 free and being uncertain of his place on the world championship team for most of the week, Ryan Held punched his ticket on the last night, winning the 50 free in 21.50. This marks the first time Held will have ever competed in an individual event at a LCM world championships or Olympic Games.
At 62, I swim 15 X 100 yds backstroke every morning pre-dawn and, Ryan, damn right, it’s 100% because of the same love I’ve always had for it… it never has wavered. Hard work in the tank is a passion that keeps giving back throughout one’s life, long after the clock (blessedly) has ceased to matter.
Impossible to not be a Ryan Held fan.
