MEN’S 100 BACK:
- Ryan Murphy– 53.08
- Jacob Pebley- 54.27
- Taylor Dale- 55.36
Ryan Murphy dominated the men’s 100 back, finishing over a body length ahead of the field. Murphy split a 25.75 at the 50 on his way to a 53.08. Murphy’s teammate Jacob Pebley was the 2nd place finisher, clocking a 54.27.
Behind the Cal teammates, 3rd went to Taylor Dale, who posted a 55.36 to hold off Michael Taylor (55.53) andCorey Main (55.73).
I am a bit slow on US yard swimming and the like but I haven’t heard Jacob Pebley being touted as having a chance at Trials – he seems to be consistent, especially in the 200. Does he not have a chance of making the team?
No doubt Murphy has the world record in him next summer.
But what interests me much more is to see if he can swim his best race in a middle lane in a big final with much pressure.
When he swims relaxed then he can swim crazy fast times. I still need to see him beat big names one to one keeping his composure in the last 25.
Times don’t count next summer. Only places count.

If he doesn’t choke he should go under 52 in Omaha. He certainly has the capability
