Ryan Murphy is one of the most spectacular swimmers coming out of high school in the United States. Olympic Champion, Ricky Berens, says it best: “I saw Aaron Peirsol go sub 1:40 in the 200 back at NCAAs, and Murphy’s doing it in high school.”
Under the watchful eye of Bolles School swim coach, Sergio Lopez (a bronze medalist in the 200 breaststroke at the 1988 Olympics), Murphy has developed into an impressive all-around talent. While backstroke is his go-to (Murphy was 4th in the 200 and 6th in the 100 at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials), Murphy has world-class potential in the freestyle and IM events. Already a member of the USA National A-Team, Murphy won a bronze medal at the 2012 World Short Course Championships in the 200 backstroke, 1:48.86. He also netted a gold medal on the 4×100 medley relay swimming the backstroke leg. 2013 US World Championship Trials will be a big stepping stone for Murphy, who will attend UC Berkeley this fall swimming coach Dave Durden.

I am interested to see how he and conger do they have both been incredible in high school in lots of events
Yep, and everyone else just kind of wants to make the team…
I love this guy. I wish him the best at trials!
I think he will be :52.73 and 1:55.64 for backstroke at least.
If Ryan swims 52.7, I think he will clinch one of the spots.
The 200 will be a be more difficult what with the presence of defending world champion and defending olympics champion in the mix.
If he swims 52.73 he wins the race!
As Conor Dwyer is the one to watch on 200 free , Ryan is the one to watch for Both backstroke races … he is gonna be very motivated to make this team .
If Ryan and Missy have a child together I know the 100 back and 200 back olympic gold medalist in 2044.
Or their children become the next generation Justin Bieber.
Tracy Caulkins is married to Mark Stockwell but their children never became great swimmers. Roland Matthes was also married to Kornelia Ender, don’t know if they ever had any children.
I find myself hoping that little Manon Bosquet-Manaudou ends up playing beach volleyball or throwing javelin or pretty much doing anything other than swimming if she chases sporting glory. Because the expectations from that gene pool would be so huge in the swimming pool, and anything short of a couple of World records would leave some calling her a failure in the sport.
