Sacred Heart Pioneers Reload with Bertoni, Cielo and Hensal

Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut has received verbal commitments from a trio of talented swimmers: Meredith Bertoni from Massachusetts, and high school and club teammates Bryana Cielo and Sarah Hensal from New Jersey.

Meredith Bertoni

Medfield, Massachusetts-native Bertoni swims for Adirondack Aquatic Club in Franklin, MA. Outside of the pool, Bertoni is a high honors student at Medfield High School and an athlete representative on the Age Group Committee of New England Swimming. In the pool, she is a fly/back specialist with the following times:

Bertoni should already be in a position to score for the Pioneers in the “C” finals of 100/200 back and 100/200 fly at NEC Championships, and with a little development she should make an even stronger impact during her tenure at SHU.

Bryana Cielo

Cielo lives in Montville, New Jersey, where she attends Montville High School and swims for Lakeland Hills YMCA in Mountain Lakes, NJ. In addition to being a SwimSwam intern, Cielo is a back/fly specialist who best times include:

Cielo, like Bertoni, would already score at conference for the Pioneers. Her fly would score in the “B” final at NEC Championships, while her 100/200 back and 200 IM would all make “C” finals.

Sarah Hensal

Hensal, from Wantage, New Jersey, who attends High Point Regional High School, is Cielo’s teammate at Lakeland Hills YMCA. Hensal is a solid breaststroker/IMer whose 200 breast is already faster than the Sacred Heart school record, and whose 100 breast and 200/400 IM times are all within shooting distance of their respective SHU marks. Her top times include:

Had Hensal been a Pioneer at 2015 NEC Championships, she would have scored in the “A” final of the 400 IM, the “B” finals of both the 100/200 breaststrokes, and the “C” final of the 200 IM.
