MILFORD, Conn.- A dominant day in the pool by the Sacred Heart University swimming and diving program led to a 154-140 victory over LIU on Saturday afternoon.

Of Note:

  • This is the third meet win for the Pioneers this season.
  • First-year Rosemery Nieto claimed first two events, in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:30.79) she hit a season-best time to make her fifth all-time at SHU in the event. She also took the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.95.
  • Senior Nicole Tingley also took first in a pair of events in the 50-yard freestyle (25.04) and in the 400-yard IM (4:42.63).
  • Sophomore Olivia McNicholas took first in the 1-meter dive with a score of 220.65.
  • First-year Caroline Duhamel continued her success in the 1000-yard freestyle taking first for the second time this season with a time of 10:57.77.

Up Next:

  • The Pioneers will return to action on Friday, December 3 when they compete at the CCSU Invite. Prelims begin at 12:00 p.m. while finals kick-off at 7:00 p.m.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The LIU women’s swim team fell to Sacred Heart in a dual meet onn the road Saturday, 154-140. Complete meet results are here.

SHARK BITES

  • LIU opened the meet going 1-2 in the 200 medley relay.
  • Freshman Allie Bashor won the 200 free in 1:57.35, and the 100 butterfly in 58.17.
  • Junior Aidan Condit had a win in the 100 back in 1:00.10, just ahead of teammates Venna Andersen (1:00.44) and Allison Naylor (1:01.64).
  • Freshman Annie Stingle won the 200 butterfly in 2:10.08, while Lelah Davison won the 100 free in 55.02.
  • Senior Jacqueline Grabowski took the top spot in the 200 back, in 2:09.56, while senior Ella Johnson won the 500 free in 5:17.64.
  • The Sharks capped the meet with a win in the 200 free relay, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Pioneers.
  • Up next, the Sharks head to ECAC championships, Friday, Dec. 5-7.
