SINK or SWIM
- 33:41 Will Leon Marchand swim an Eye-Popping Time in Westmont?
- 37:19 Is barring Russian athletes from the 2023 World Champs the right call?
- 40:10 Will NC State men win an NCAA title during Daniel Diehl‘s tenure?
- 44:51 Sink or Swim – World Aquatics removing 25km at World Champs
- 47:54 Is it good for Ariarne Titmus‘ mentality to have her WR broken heading into the Olympic Games?
Santo definitely doesn’t have Japanese citizenship. People over 21 can’t have dual citizenship if they’re Japanese, so he would have given it up and won’t be able to get it back easily.
As someone else said, Titmus managed to break a world record during her “time off”. I think she’ll be just fine Coleman.
Also Coleman’s claim that she was riding high on confidence after beating Ledecky in 2019 isn’t really true because of the circumstances she beat Ledecky under (sick) and Titmus getting injured in the lead up to Tokyo. She has stated that she didn’t think she could beat Ledecky until her performance at Olympic trials.
Love the insights from the Swimswam people. As a beginner I learn so much about swimming just listening to this podcast… unlike the comments section (cough cough)
If you bring on an Australian to yell at you also need to bring me on to do the yelling.
You do enough at that already Steve.
See, even your phrasing is upside down.
“You do that enough already, Steve” would be the proper Murrican, jeez I even gotta edit your posts, too smdh.
Peanut Galley:
Westmont. Santo-I associate passion for one’s country to represent your country at the Olympics. Is it possible to be passionate about 3 “homelands”?
One of the podcasters said 4:09 doesn’t do much lately at Worlds or Olympics…..what did Chase and Jay do when they got gold and silver in Tokyo? This pro series is a qualifying trials for Leon so I will be impressed.
British Trials-coincidence that Greenbank and Peaty both swim for Mel Marshall and neither going to Worlds. Did anyone from her squad make the team?
No mention of this but I was really impressed by the guy who won the 50 and 100 fly. I hated their selection process too but… Read more »

Sink or Swims
Marchand: Coin toss – very sound arguments either way
Russia out of Worlds: – what’s changed since last year ? Swim
25km axed from Worlds: – Swim
Titmus: – lean to Swim. McIntosh MAY, in the future, take the 400free ‘out of reach’ just as Evans did in her era and Ledecky for much of the previous decade but at this point; its still very much within Titmus’ range should she be truly back in business. The next 3-4 months should fill out the picture.
A view on “bathtub” from a (currently expat) Australian and one who did study post-grad at a US university. Whilst I do think a few Aussies do get a little overinvested in… Read more »
