The Chico Piscina Trophy is an international competition which includes Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. There are two age divisions; children (athletes born in 2001 and 2002) and youth (athletes born in 1999 and 2000).
When all was said and done Sao Paulo came away with the victory at the Chico Piscina Trophy. The team earned 550 points more than doubling the next best team, Rio de Janeiro, who earned 251 points.
The final day of competition did not see any records broken, but two swimmers picked up their third gold medals of the competition. In the female youth category Maria Paula Heitmann took the 100 freestyle in a time of 56.57 while in the male youth category Breno Correa won the event in a time of 51.29.
In the children’s division Sofia Rondel was one of four swimmers to break a minute winning the female 100 freestyle in a time of 59.18. Eduardo Martiniano won the children’s male division in a time of 53.76.
In the children’s 100 backstroke Lola Cantera of Argentina took the female event in a time of 1:07.68 while Victor Rocha won the male event in a 1:01.43.
In the youth division Maria Luiza won the female event in a time of 1:04.34 while John Victor Pena won the male event in a time of 58.47.
Sao Paulo took three out of the four gold medals up for grabs in the 4 x 100 medley relays. Rio de Janeiro took the fourth gold winning the children’s male event.
