Sarah Gibson Doubles Up On Friday Of Shenandoah Sectional Championships

The action continued in Texas at the Shenandoah Sectional Championships with the 100 backstroke, 400 freestyle, 100 breaststoke, and the 100 butterfly.

Claire Brandt ran away with the women’s 100 backstroke, posting a time of 1:02.80 to win the event. It was a close race between Andrii Nikishenko and Robert Stenman in the men’s 100 backstroke. Nikishenko won the race with a 58.48, followed by Stenman in second with a 58.72.

Sarah Gibson touched the wall at 4:20.43 to win the women’s 400 freestyle. Alexandra Buscher finished second with a time of 4:21.85.

Alex Nickell and Cory Loria raced to the end in the men’s 400 meter freestyle. Nickell just edged out Loria for the win with his time of 4:01.73. Loria earned second with a 4:01.76.

Franko Jonker won the women’s 100 breaststroke with her time of 1:10.53; more than two seconds ahead of the closest swimmer. Thiago Parravicini ran away with the men’s 100 breaststroke, breaking 1:03. His final time was a 1.38 second drop to a 1:02.98.

Sarah Gibson claimed her second win of the day with a time of 1:02.42 in the women’s 100 butterfly. She won the women’s 400 freestyle earlier. Meaghan Wisenbaker finished second at 1:02.81.

The final event of the day, the men’s 100 butterfly, was won by Alexander Handcock with his time of 54.82. Gray Umbach finished second with a 55.56.
