Sarah Sjöström Kicks Off Bergen Swim Festival with 53.1 100 FR

2018 BERGEN SWIM FESTIVAL

Sarah Sjöström won the 100 free by over two seconds, posting a 53.18 to dominate the field. That’s just off her season best of 52.77, done just last week at the Stockholm Open.

Louis Croenen demolished the field in the men’s 200 fly, racing to a 1:56.72. No other competitor finished under 2:01. Emilie Løvberg clocked a 2:14.40 to win the women’s 200 fly.

Gergely Gyurta of Hungary was the clear victor in the men’s 400 IM, the only finisher below 4:20 at 4:17.44. He took a whopping thirteen seconds off of Daniel Dudas’ 4:31.36 meet record.

In the 100 free, Pieter Timmers of Belgium was the only finisher under 49 seconds. His time of 48.82 broke Isak Eliasson‘s 49.43 meet record, as Eliasson touched 2nd tonight in 49.79.

Lithuania’s Giedrius Titenis was the only 100 breast finisher under 1:01, racing to a time of 59.86. That time ranks him 15th in the world this year. In the women’s race, Finland’s Ida Hulkko took the win in 1:08.82.

OTHER WINNERS

  • In the women’s 400 IM, the fastest finisher was a junior, as 2001-born Astrid Halvorsen clocked a 4:54.51 to win.
  • The fastest time in the women’s 50 back again came from the juniors category, as Malene Rypestøl, born in 2001, posted a 29.84.
  • Kristian Kron was 27.47 to win the men’s 50 back.
