Nele Stroebel from Simpsonville, SC has committed to swim for Florida Southern College in the fall.

A senior at Christ Church Episcopal School, Stroebel was runner-up in the 100 fly (coming from behind to touch in 59.20) and placed 3rd in the 200 IM (2:13.22) at the 2019 SCHSL 3A State Swimming and Diving Championships in October. The year before she had been 3rd in the 100 fly and 6th in the 200 free. Stroebel swims year-round for Team Greenville and was able to swim in two championship meets this season. At the South Carolina LSC Short Course Senior State Championships, she earned best times in the 500 free and 200 fly and finaled in the 500 free (8th), 100 fly (9th), 200 fly (8th), and 200 IM (18th). She followed that strong performance with another at Cary Sectionals where she finaled in the 100 fly (25th), 200 fly (25th), and 200 IM (28th). She notched PBs in the SCY 100 fly and 200/400 IM in prelims and in the LCM 100/200 fly and 200 IM in finals.

Florida Southern women placed 5th at the 2020 Sunshine State Conference Championship. The SSC only scores an A final and a B final and Stroebel’s best times would have scored for the Mocs in the B finals of the 100/200 fly and the 400 IM. She will overlap with FSC flyers Sandra Miclaus and Kimmy Chang.
