A shortlist of 5 aquatic athletes were among the honorees on Forbes Magazine’s latest ’30 Under 30′ for the Asian continent. Among the ‘Entertainment and Sports’ category, 30 famous faces made the cut from 24 countries across Asia-Pacific, including sports figures, singers and actors.
From competitive swimming, Kosuke Hagino, Joseph Schooling and Fu Yuanhui appear on the list. Hagino is Japan’s Olympic gold medalist in the 400m IM from Rio, while Schooling scored Singapore’s first Olympic swimming gold medal with his historic 100m butterfly victory. Yuanhui scored a women’s 100m backstroke bronze at the 2016 Olympics, but is perhaps more famous for her post-race interview video, which went viral.
India’s Sharath Gayakwad Chinese diver Chen Ruolin also made the list. Gayakwad is his nation’s first Paralympic swimmer, while Ruolin is widely considered one of the most successful divers of all time. The 24-year-old was forced to retire last year due to a neck injury.
