Scottish Swimming’s Edinburgh International Swim Meet Is Growing Into One Of 2015’s Top Meets

Scottish Swimming is gearing up to host the 2015 Edinburgh International Swim Meet that runs from March 13th to March 15th at the refurbished Royal Commonwealth Pool. Meet organizers tell us they are excited to provide an opportunity for swimmers to obtain experience and achieve qualifying times for national events taking place later in the season. With the recent success seen at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scottish Swimming feels 2015 presents an ideal time to reintroduce this meet into the calendar.

The meet will feature all of the Olympic events, in addition to the 50’s of each stroke and the 4x50m mixed freestyle and medley relays. The meet also features “skins” in all of the 50m events. The fastest 8 swimmers will advance to the knock-out stages, and those races will decide the winners. More than £7,500 in cash prizes will be awarded for the top 3 finishers in every event. There will also be a larger cash prize awarded to the top male and female swimmers with the most FINA points earned for an individual swim.

Live results will be available on Meet Mobile and the Scottish Swimming website. A live stream of every session will also be provided. The meet organizers will be accepting meet entries though February 16th. More information about the meet can be found at the SwimScotland website by clicking here.

Having previously been attended by established clubs from around the UK, this meet aims to attract both local swimmers and a wider international audience. British Swimming has already confirmed that 20 of their athletes will be competing, barring any injuries or illnesses. Several other federations have also expressed interest. This meet is shaping up to be full of excitement, featuring Olympic champions and World Record holders. The British swimmers attending the meet include:
