Scottsdale Aquatic Club Girls Break Another NAG Record

A day after taking down one 9-year old National Age Group Record in the 200 meter free relay, a group of four teenagers from the Scottsdale Aquatic Club also broke the National Age Group Record in the 15-16 400 meter free relay at the Mt. Hood Sectional meet in Gresham, Oregon.

The group of Samantha FazioHannah HolmanVictoria Toris, and Amy Bilquist combined for a 3:51.39 to break the old record of 3:51.58 set by the Dallas Mustangs group that included the Blackman twins, Jennifer and Candace, former Texas A&M standout Codie Hansen, and former BYU Cougar Kenley Woods.

This was the same group that broke the record in the 200 free relay, though they switched the order of the first three legs and left the youngest member of the squad, Bilquist, to anchor again.

Fazio (16) – 59.03
Holman (16) – 59.24
Toris (16) – 56.58
Bilquist (15) – 56.54

The overall 15-18 record still belongs to a group from the Colorado Stars that includes Missy Franklin and Jordan Mattern: both members of this year’s American 800 free relay for the World Championships. They swam a 3:45.50 in 2010.

The Scottsdale Aquatic Club, across all age groups and courses, have now broken 7 National Age Group relay records in the last two years.
