SEATTLE, Wash. – Seattle U men’s and women’s swim competed in Day Two of their dual meet against Simon Fraser. After 42 events, the women’s and men’s team claimed victory against the Red Leafs in their first meet of the season. Similary to Day One of the meet, the Redhawks had multiple event winners from both the women and men’s side that helped them get the team win at home.In the men’s 400 Yard Medley Relay, the team of Will Corona, Brendan RyanEric Thomure, and Nicholas Imig took first place in dominant fashion. The quartet finished the relay in 3:30.51, and defeated Simon Fraser’s A team by over 7 seconds. The men would also convincingly won the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. The A team of Connor BarringerCole LantingMatthew Chan, and Michael Luna clocked in a time of 1:25.38, defeating the Simon Fraser’s A team by 4 seconds.Nicholas Imig won the 50 Yard Freestyle by a wide margin, finishing the race in 20.77. Imig was the only athlete in the field to break 21 seconds, with second place coming in at 22.63 seconds. In addition to winning the 50 Free, Imig claimed first place in the 100 Yard Freestyle, while his teammate Cole Lanting would come in second. Imig clocked in a time of 46.35, and Lanting finished in 47.54. The duo would give the Redhawks 13 crucial points towards the team score.In the 100 Yard Butterfly, Emmett Moore edged out Simon Fraser’s Matthew Fuller by .11 seconds, taking home the win in 52.23. Lastly, Freshman Brendan Ryan would continue to shine in his first collegiate meet, as he would win the 200 Yard Breaststroke in 2:11.27. The men’s team defeated Simon Fraser 199-192, with the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay victory and Brendan Ryan’s win in the 200 Yard Breaststroke being the decisive events for the team win.The women’s team continued putting up stellar performances in Day Two. Maggie Robben was the first event winner for the Redhawks on the day. Robben won the 200 Yard Freestyle, clocking in a time of 1:59.50. In the 400 Yard IM, Tessa Oliver won the race, finishing in 4:43.66. Sophomore Sammy Moiser got the win convincingly in the 100 Yard Butterfly. Moiser would finish the race in 58.94 and would be the only athlete in the field to break 1 minute in the event.Freshman Sarah Cook got herself another win in the 100 Yard Freestyle after winning the  100 Yard Breaststroke in Day One, finishing the 100 Yard Free in 54.58 seconds. The last event winner for the women was Lydia Genson, when she won the 200 Yard Backstroke in 2:10.29. The Redhawks convicingly won the team score, defeating the Red Leags 206-185.

The Redhawks will travel to Phoenix, Arizona to take on Grand Canyon, Loyola Marymount and San Diego State on October 21.

SEATTLE – Ten SFU swimmers turned in multiple win performances and the Red Leafs won 21 of 42 events in a dual meet with Seattle University that wrapped up Sunday at the Redhawk Centre.

RESULTS

Channah YipMarcus Mak, and Jordan Doner won four races each while Delrae VetterAly WhitmoreTori Meklensek and Abby Williams won three races each. Mathew FullerKaysha Bikadi and Isabelle Roth won two events a piece.

The head-to-head meet was incredibly close with the two schools winning 21 races each. The Redhawks won both the men’s and women’s competitions, however. The Redhawks beat the Red Leafs 199 to 192 on the men’s side with SFU winning 10 individual races. The Redhawks defeated the Red Leafs 206 to 185 on the women’s side with SFU winning seven individual races and all four relays.

On the men’s side, Yip finished first in the 1000-yard freestyle (9:49.18), 200-yard butterfly (1:56.53) and the and 500-yard freestyle twice, in both Saturday and Sunday races. His time Saturday was 4:48.48 and his time Sunday was 4:50.43 in the 500 free.

Mak won the 200 Individual medley (1:55.04) and 400 IM (4:14.57) races and the 100 backstroke (53.34) and 200 back (1:56.63) races.

Fuller captured the 200 free races on both days, winning in 1:45.18 on Saturday and 1:43.57 on Sunday.

On the women’s side, Vetter won the 1000 free in 10:38.00 and 500 free in 5:15.65. Doner’s two individual wins came in the 50 free twice. She won in 24.81 on Saturday and she swam slightly faster on Sunday, winning in 24.61.

Meklensek won the 200 free in 1:56.89, Whitemore was first in the 100 free, finishing 1/100th of a second in front of teammate Williams, 53.60 to 53.61, and Roth took home first in the 200 breaststroke in 2:25.14. Williams was on three winning relays.

The women’s winnng relay teams were:
200 medley relay: Kaysha BikadiRobynn Reid, Williams and Doner (1:50.89)
400 free relay: Meklensek, Williams, Vetter and Whitmore (3:35.41)
400 medley relay: Bikadi, Roth, Whitmore and Meklensek (3:59.85)
200 free relay: Doner, Williams, Vetter and Maggie Armstrong (1:40.23)

SFU is back in the pool for a dual against UBC on Friday at home beginning at 5 p.m.
