How did your Pick ‘Em survive day 1 of the meet? Not great? Don’t stress about it, with some big misses (like favorite Daiya Seto not even qualifying for the final of the men’s 400 IM), day 1 likely won’t yield too many huge scores. Seto was the top choice on 80.3% of the more than 900 entries in the contest.

Who are the Pick ‘Em favorites for each event? See that data below. The following charts represent an event-by-event breakdown of the top picks to win gold at Tokyo 2020. The biggest consensus for a gold medal pick came in the women’s 1500 freestyle where 99.3% of respondents chose world record holder and defending champion Katie Ledecky to finish on top.
Following Ledecky, people were the surest about Adam Peaty in the men’s 100 breast (99%), Caeleb Dressel in the men’s 100 fly, and 50 free (98.4%), and Kristof Milak in the men’s 200 fly (97.3%).
The biggest debate for a gold medal pick lies in the women’s 50 freestyle where only 32.1% of people chose Sarah Sjostrom to win while 23.2% picked Cate Campbell and 21.6% Emma McKeon.
The output sheet page seems to provide “freeze pane” utility like in a spreadsheet document for easy reading, but it doesn’t work as expected. The first row containing column titles disappears when I scroll down; and the 1st column containing viewer/user name disappears when I scroll through the right.
Only small grumbles about the public sheet. Could you fix the column headers so we can see it when we scroll down to our entry as super hard to see what our picks relate to.
And totally a bit more cheeky.. would be awesome if there was conditionally formatting so could see which ones were accurate or not as results announced.
Though my bracket is totally busted cause of Seto and a lot of top seeds underperforming.

For formatting data or processing data like your request, I can feel headache on the web developer. π
The embedded sheet won’t allow that, but if you open it via the link in the first paragraph it is formated to freeze the first row.
I use the link that will be opened in a new tab of browser which then makes use of Google sheet to present the data.
The 1st row of the sheet is the title that has “Tokyo2020 SwimSwam Pick ‘Em Contest – Public : Sheet1”.
Column names are rendered in the 2nd row.
It appears that a thick horizontal line at the 2nd row and a thick vertical line at the 1st column will serve as the feature of row-column freezing like we normally found in a spreadsheet.
But it doesn’t work as expected. Only the 1st row that contains the title of the sheet is freezed.
It should freeze the row that contains column… Read more Β»
As a last resort I just copied all the data from the output spreadsheet, and pasted into an Excel sheet, saved it into a file. From that original file, I filtered my own data and saved into another file. From this new file, I did a few works such that each event’s column will contain 4 entries (rows) with additional format such that I could read data more conveniently.
I picked Seto and Hosszu and Pickrem. π
I picked Michael Andrew ahead of the Lion of Breaststroke ! π π
Anyone have any tips for isolating your picks so you can see them in a neat way?
I have tried several ways but didn’t work.

Seto ruining my Pickems π«π«
And Sydneyβs no show π
My subjective mind/opinion is the main source of my low score. I should not have done that.
Lol Seto, a hill nearly everyone died on. I’m still confused what happened to he freestyle, his technique was just busted, I can’t tell if he’s was that tired or if something else was going on there.
I currently guessed (as it appears right now) that Hosszu may struggle to defend her titles, though I picked McKweon in the 200im… oops
Just like US Trials i have lost all hope with my pickems
I notice that both Titmus is picked over Ledecky in the 400 and Ledecky over Titmus in the 800 by 0.99%.
