NCAP star and high school senior Andrew Seliskar, a NAG record holder in four events between the 15-16 and 17-18 age groups, has just taken down Chase Kalisz‘s 400 IM NAG record for the 17-18 age group. This swim was done at the Potomac Valley Senior Championships at George Mason University.

The versatile eighteen year old dismantled the old record of 3:39.82, from 2013, hitting the wall at 3:37.52. Seliskar now owns three 17-18 NAG records before reaching college. His previous best time was 3:41.19, so this marks his first time under 3:40. Here are his splits:

Stroke Split
Fly 49.60
Back 54.80
Breast 1:01.30
Free 51.82

The future Cal Golden Bear also took down the 3:42.08 pool record set by the one and only Michael Phelps.

Seliskar’s other swim of the night was the 100 breaststroke, where he dropped a 52.05, scaring Kevin Cordes‘ 17-18 NAG record of 51.76. This crushes his previous best of 53.24, according to USA Swimming’s database. He’s scheduled to swim the 200 breaststroke and the 500 freestyle later on in the meet, so stay tuned for more possible record-breaking performances. Results can be found on Meet Mobile, under “2015 PV SC Senior Championships.”

Its worth noting that his time also broke a faster record still, which is the Potomac Valley Resident Open Record, by Tom Dolan at NCAA’s …… 3:38.18 03/25/1995 . Which by the way was a ridiculous time in 1995!!

When he won the 200M Butterfly in 1:55, he did about 20 dolphin kicks off the 3rd turn, while Phelps only does 7 max.

I could see this kid eventually dominating this event.

Given how everyone performed at Pan Pacs last year (excepting Clary, Phelps and Cordes), I have to say 2015 is giving me a lot more hope for their prospects down the road.
