BETHLEHEM, Pa. In the last home meet of the season, Lehigh women’s swimming and diving shined, defeating Seton Hall 122-119 Friday night.
“It was a great team effort,” said head coach Rob Herb. “This group of girls really seems to have it together. I love working with this group. They showed lots of heart. Divers were the stars of the meet.”
Lehigh had six first-place finishes to lead them to a victory Friday night over the Pirates.
Sarah Gill won the three-meter dive with a score of 219.75. Sydney Izakson finished right behind Gill, totaling 209.85 points. Gill also won the one-meter dive, finishing with 244.35 points.
Izakson also picked up three points in the one-meter dive (201.75).
Senior Sarah Hardy continued her impressive performance. She set a pool record in the 200 IM (2:05.84). Hardy also won the 100-yard butterfly (55.93).
Caitlin Deitch won the 50-yard freestyle (24.57)
Danielle Prekop was the other Lehigh swimmer to finish in first. Prekop won the 100-yard backstroke. Prekop was also on the 200-yard medley relay with Hallie Wilson, Julie Stevens, and Noel Fresa, that took home second place (1:48.46)
The Mountain Hawks improved to 5-2 and closed up their non-league slate with a win.This was the first-ever meeting between Lehigh and Seton Hall.
Lehigh will look to continue its winning ways when the Mountain Hawks take on Bucknell on Jan. 21 in Lewisburg.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men’s swimming and diving team was defeated by Seton Hall 166-75 Friday afternoon in the Mountain Hawks first meet back after winter break.
Lehigh fell to 2-5 overall, while Seton Hall improved to 5-1.
Despite not coming away with a victory, Lehigh still had some positive showings on Friday.
Led by star first-year Aaron Williams, the 200-yard freestyle relay finished in first with a time of 1:23:90. Aiden McCurley, Tim Norris, Alex Patti, were the other Lehigh swimmers on the relay.
Tim Norris came in first in the 100-yard freestyle (46.75).
Elvin Lee, Miles Cox, Jack DeVilbiss and Jack Krause came in second in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:35.51. Cox took home four points in the 200-yard IM (1:58:12) and DeVilbiss also won four points for Lehigh in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.79).
Lee also came in second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.93).
Williams was so close to picking up a first-place victory in the 50-yard freestyle. He took home second place with a time of 21.41, while Seton Hall’s Michael Klimaszewski won in 21:36. Williams also took another second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (51.37)
The Mountain Hawks will look to rebound when they take on Bucknell on Jan. 21 at 12 p.m. in Lewisburg.

Bethlehem, Pa. – The Seton Hall men’s swimming and diving team began the semester with a bang, taking a victory over Lehigh, 166-75, on Friday afternoon at Jacobs Pool. The Pirates took the top spot in 11 out of 13 events on the day.
Ross Pantano (Bennington, Neb.) and Michael Klimaszewski (London, England) both led the way for The Hall, each winning a total of three events. The tandem were part of the victory in the 200 Medley Relay to begin the day, with Pantano swimming an opening split of 23.86 and Klimaszewski swimming his 50 yards in 22.17. Ben Endersby (Caldwell, N.J.) and Thomas Minar (Oxford, Conn.) swam the other two legs to help the Pirates to their first win of the afternoon.
Klimaszewski would come back three events later to win the 50 Free in a time of 21.36, touching the wall just .05 seconds ahead of Lehigh’s Aaron Williams. The freshman was the lone Pirate to finish inside the top four in the event. Klimaszewski would later earn his third win of the day, as his time of 49.65 in the 100 Fly helped him to a comfortable victory.
Pantano followed up his performance in the relay with a victory in the 200 IM, clocking a time of 1:56.43 to claim the top spot. The senior would later claim the win in the 100 Back, recording a time of 51.05.
Freshman Kevin Cary (West Chester, Pa.) picked up a pair of victories on the day. His first came in the 200 Free with a time of 1:41.21, nearly two seconds ahead of the rest of the pack. Cary later would grab the win in the 500 Free in 4:39.39, just ahead of sophomore Sean Vizzard (Mount Laurel, N.J.). Vizzard’s second-place finish came on the heels of his win earlier in the 1000 Free, which came in 9:32.00, besting the field by over 42 seconds.
Gennarino Conzemius (Bethel Park, Pa.) also picked up an individual win in the swimming portion of the day, as he claimed the top spot in the 100 Breast. Conzemius outlasted Lehigh’s Jack Devilbiss with a first-place time of 59.24.
In diving, Trevor Post (Bay City, Mich.) recorded a new personal best in the 1-meter en route to a victory in the event. Post’s score of 311.18 gave him the victory over Quinn Murtha (Cumming, Ga.) who took second. Murtha would grab the top spot in the 3-meter portion with a score of 294.75.
The men will return to action next Friday as they head to NJIT at 4 p.m.
Bethlehem, Pa. – Seton Hall women’s swimming and diving suffered a narrow road loss on Friday afternoon, falling to Lehigh by a score of 122-119. The Pirates won a total of seven events on the day.
The day began with the Pirates claiming the top spot in the 200 Medley Relay. The quartet of Julie Stampe (Allerod-Birkerod, Denmark), Nicole Bastian (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.), Sierra Cripps (Seymour, Conn.) and Cornelia Jerresand (Taeby, Sweden) combined to touch the wall in 1:44.83.
Continuing Seton Hall’s good start was Amanda Zajdzinski (Mesa, Ariz.), who followed up the relay with a victory in the 1000 Free. This was the first of three overall wins on the day for Zajdzinski, as she also grabbed the top spot in the 500 Free in 5:05.61. She also swam the anchor leg of the winning 200 Free Relay, as her 24.35 split helped the Pirates record a winning time of 1:37.20.
Swimming the leadoff leg of that relay team was Natalie Heim (Middletown, N.J.), who also had three overall wins on the day. Heim picked up one of her two individual wins in the 200 Free, doing so in a time of 1:54.15. She later added another win in the 100 Free with a time of 52.71.
In addition to her relay team victory to start the day, Stampe would later take the victory in the 100 Back. The freshman posted a time of 58.46 to claim the top spot.
In diving, Nikki Pawar (Lawrenceville, N.J.) was able to finish in second place in the 1-meter, recording a score of 228.83.
The Pirates are right back in action on Saturday afternoon as they head to Storrs, Conn. to face UConn at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
