Shchukin And White Earn Atlantic 10 Weekly Awards For The Bonnies

College Swimming News: St. Bonaventure’s Viacheslav Shchukin was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week, while Michael White was selected as the league’s Men’s Swimming and Diving Rookie of the Week.

Shchukin, a sophomore from Krasnoyarsk, Russia, recorded two top-three finishes for the Bonnies at the WNY Invite including a first-place finish in the 100-yd freestyle with a time of 44.34. His time in the 100 free currently ranks as the fourth fastest time in the nation. He also recorded a third-place finish in the 100-yd backstroke with a time of 52.14.

White began his collegiate career and earned Men’s Rookie of the Week honors with a third-place finish in the 200-yd individual medley, touching in at 1.55.89. In the 400-yard IM, the Gilbert, Ariz., native earned a second-place finish with a time of 4:08.86.

The Bonnies are back in the pool this weekend on Saturday, Oct. 19 against Pittsburgh and then on Sunday, Oct. 20 at the Clarion Invite.

My dad and one of my sisters, as well as the top swimmer on my high school swim team, went to St. Bonnies. 44.3 is a great October time and has me fantasizing about an NCAA title for Shchukin. Go Bonnies!!
