Shettleroe Scores Nine in VMI’s 15-5 Win over Mount St. Mary’s

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Sophomore Sydney Shettleroe scored nine times Saturday to break the program single-game goal record as the VMI women’s water polo team defeated Mount St. Mary’s 15-5 in a contest played at the Villanova University Swim Complex.

Shettleroe snapped the top school mark set by Sarah Dolitsky in February 2019 against Macalester.

The Keydets jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first period and led 7-2 at halftime.

Genevieve Petrassi had two goals, two assists and two steals, Maddie Berry had a goal and three assists and Makenna Moore had a goal and two assists. Catherine Ahumada had three assists and two steals while sister Rachel Ahumada posted a goal, an assist, three steals and four drawn exclusions. Kiara Anguiano scored once and drew four exclusions.

VMI (2-2) will square off with Gannon University at 10 a.m. and Salem (W. Va.) at 4 p.m. University Sunday at Villanova.
