Signing Day is Here! Chenault and White Kick Things Off in Joint Signing

Running now through next Wednesday, November 21st, athletes will be receiving their formal letters of scholarship from their respective university, upon the signing of which they are locked in. These letters mean an agreement to receive a certain scholarship (walk-on athletes can sign them too) in exchange for one year of commitment to the program, and once signed an athlete would need special permission to begin their college careers anywhere.

UCLA commit Madison White and USC commit Chelsea Chenault, best friends and teammates at Carondelet High School, signed their letters together. They will now become rivals in Los Angeles, but surely will still see plenty of each other in the coming years as regional and conference rivals.

After next week, athletes will return to “verbal commitments” until April 17th, when the regular signing period opens. In honor of the signing period, the NCAA is currently in a “dead period,” meaning contact with recruits is limited to written communications and phone calls.

Read more about Chenault’s commitment here.

Recruits, have a picture of yourself signing your letter of intent? Email them to [email protected], and share your moment with the whole swimming community!

Big recruit for USC. Chelsea Chenault is one the best american girls on freestyle. Now for the next years they have great breaststrokers with Andrea Kropp and Blair Carnes. They have a great swimmer on butterfly with Kendyl Stewart. They have Chelsea Chenault for the 200 free, the 500 free and the freestyle relays. And they have a star with Jasmine Tosky on freestyle, on butterfly and especially on IM. They will play the second and third places with Georgia. If they could have catched Olivia Smoliga on backstroke and Lia Neal on sprint they could have played with Cal. We’ll see.
