NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame women’s swim team has hired Caroline Simmons to the newly created role of operations director. In this role, Simmons coordinates logistics for the team, including travel arrangements, meals, equipment ordering and NCAA compliance paperwork.
“I am excited to be in this role that combines two things I enjoy very much – swimming, and working with students. I am honored to serve these girls and their coaches, and I hope to contribute to the growing success of this program,” says Simmons.
“I am pleased to have Caroline join our staff; she is well-organized, knows the sport and has great energy,” says head coach Mike Litzinger. “Caroline will help us build a great program and uphold the values important for success at Notre Dame.”
A 2012 Grove City College graduate, Simmons swam for three years with the Wolverines after transferring from Edinboro after her freshman season, and was named team captain her senior year. She holds a Bachelors degree in history and is certified in secondary education, degrees she used for three years at the middle school level teaching history, logic and physical education. She also served as a volunteer assistant coach at Grove City for one year.
Originally from Edinboro, Pennsylvania, Simmons now calls Mishawaka, Indiana home. She is engaged to Jeff Tolly, a graduate student at the University. The couple is set to wed on Oct. 25 of this year.
