Singapore National Teamer Rachel Tseng Gives Verbal to Northwestern

Rachel Tseng, a member of the Singapore National Team, has verbally pledged to be part of the Wildcats family at Northwestern University beginning in 2017-18.

“I am honoured and blessed to announce my commitment to be part of the Wildcat family! Through my interaction with Coach Abby and Coach Jesse, I know that the connection I have with them will go a long way. The programs and the support system, together with the great family atmosphere at NU will help me grow as a better student, better athlete and a better person. I am excited for what the future entails! Special thanks to everyone who has supported me through this process #GoCats”

Tseng is a senior at Anglo-Chinese School; she swims for the club team Aquatic Performance Swim Club (APSC). She is predominantly a middle and long distance freestyler, and has represented Singapore on the international stage several times.

Tseng competed at the 2015 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships in the 200/400/800m freestyle events, and at the 16th FINA World Swimming Championships in Kazan in the 400/800/1500m freestyles. Her best times in LCM are:

  • 200m free: 2.04.09
  • 400m free: 4.18.27
  • 800m free: 8.53.14
  • 1500m free: 17.05.69
  • 100m fly: 1.06.49
  • 200m fly: 2.22.61

  • 400m IM: 5.06.83
