ST. LOUIS – The Saint Louis swimming and diving teams were successful in their first home meet of the season Saturday, easily defeating Maryville and Eastern Illinois at Simon Recreation Center.
The Billiken women topped Maryville 178-36 and Eastern Illinois 179-38, winning 11 of 12 events. The SLU men captured nine victories in defeating Maryville 173-38 and Eastern Illinois 145-69.
Both teams had two double winners in the individual events. For the women, Claire Koh won the 1000 freestyle (10:29.59) and 200 breaststroke (2:31.57), while Natalie Daniel touched first in the 200 freestyle (1:56.60) and 100 freestyle (53.42). The men’s team was led by Collin O’Brien, who captured the 200 freestyle (1:45.26) and 200 breaststroke (2:12.08), and Janssen Gamilla, a winner in the 200 individual medley (1:57.05) and 200 butterfly (1:55.08).

Both teams claimed victory in both relays. In the 400 medley, Smith, Alexis Beine, Bri Hodgkins and Sophie Kishish won the women’s race (4:00.44), while T.J. Halliburton, Preston Waldusky, Paulson and Nick Soltys finished on top in the men’s race (3:32.00).
First, Daniel, Katie Knapp and Rylee Stone comprised the winning team in the women’s 200 freestyle (1:39.15). On the men’s side, Gamilla, Matthew Terrian, Grant Streid and O’Brien touched first (1:25.32).
Up next for the Billikens is the Atlantic 10 Dual Meets in Geneva, Ohio, Nov. 2-3.

SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – The Eastern Illinois men’s & women’s swimming teams hit the road this weekend as they took on Saint Louis and Maryville in a tri meet. The men lost to Saint Louis 69-145 and beat Maryville 149-56. The women lost to Saint Louis 38-117 and beat Maryville 150-55.
The men’s unit had a strong showing all throughout the meet. Scott House won the 50-free with a time of 21.20. Forrest Baumgartner took third in the 50-free with a time of 21.74. House also won the 100-free with a time 46.93 to top off this tri meet. Griffin Louis placed third in the 100-free with a time of 48.16.
Other top three finishers were, Greg Hample in the 1000-free with a time of 10:15.44, in the 200-free Griffin Louis took second with a time of 1:46.09 and Alex Adams was right behind him with a time of 1:50.01.
In the 200-fly Austin Kueck place third with a time of 2:00.97, Greg Hample place second in the 500-free with a time of 4:54.95. In the 200-breaststroke Jarod Farrow placed third with a time of 2:14.65.
In the relays EIU placed second in the 200-free relay with a time of 1:25.35 and in the 400 medley relay they placed second with a time of 3:37.36.
On the women’s side, the Panthers had one second place finish and four third place finishes. In the 200-free relay the women placed second with a time of 1:42.10. Sarah Lohman had the fastest split with a time of 25.15
Other top three finishers were, Jessica Harris in the 1000-free with a time of 11:01.68. In the 50-free Lily Schaffer placed third with time of 25.28 and in the 200-breaststroke Ashley Glesing placed third with a time of 2:32.38. The Panthers placed third in the 400-medley relay with a time of 4:06.95.
The EIU men’s & women’s swimming teams will return to action at home in the Padovan pool in two weeks on Friday (Nov. 1) at 5 p.m. to take on Ball State.
