SLU Wins Every Event In Senior Day Triumph Over Maryville

ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis competitors won every event as the Billikens swept Maryville Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at Simon Recreation Center.

The women’s team posted a 232-23 victory, while the men’s team earned a 227-30 win.

Four Billikens collected two victories apiece in the women’s meet. Karis Reynaga won the 1000 free (10:59.70) and 50 fly (27.16); Amelia Carlson captured the 200 free (2:02.57) and 500 free (5:36.35); Emily Leonard touched first in the 50 free (25.17) and 200 back (2:11.83); and Meghan Eng claimed the 100 free (54.84) and 200 IM (2:14.04).

Also winning individual events were Audrey Sept in the 50 back (28.38), Kenna Cashman in the 50 breast (30.68), Ella Bolling in the 200 fly (2:12.82), Elena Escalante in the 200 breast (2:33.40) and Elizabeth Voss in 1-meter diving (257.10).

Saint Louis won both relays. Meggie McPhersonCarly McKeon, Escalante and Leonard topped the field in the 200 medley relay (1:49.67), while Carlson, Ellerie Seifert, Bolling and Madi Baylor won the 200 free relay (1:42.66).

Jack ReddenFranklin Liu and Brae Sanchez led the way in the men’s meet. Redden touched first in the 50 back (24.78) and 50 fly (23.78); Liu won the 500 free (4:52.33) and 1000 free (10:15.51); and Sanchez captured the 50 breast (25.95) while tying Daniel Jekov for first in the 100 free (48.67).

Also winning for the Billikens were Ryan Bates in the 200 free (1:47.97), Sal Goaley in the 200 fly (2:03.54), Ethan Highley in the 50 free (21.85), Zach Byars in the 200 back (1:58.98), Kasey Copley in the 200 breast (2:11.50), Logan Townsend in the 200 IM (1:57.08) and Jacob Wasserman in 1-meter diving (282.10).

Redden, Ethan HoakJeddrick Gamilla and Jekov won the 200 medley relay (1:37.42), while Jake LundquistGraham Bishop, Sanchez and Hoak were victorious in the 200 free relay (1:28.20).

Up next for the Billikens is the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships Feb. 21-24 in Hampton, Va.

SAINT LOUIS, MO. – The Maryville University swimming squads fell to Saint Louis University in two matches on Saturday afternoon.

Devon Tallent finished second for the Men’s team in the 200-yard Backstroke with a total time of 2:02.96. Hank Word tallied third in the 200-yard Freestyle event posting a time of 2:10.25. The men’s team fell to the Billikens with a 30-227 final.

For the women’s team, Hannah Doss finished fourth in the 50-yard Freestyle event with a total time of 26.74. Isabelle Calabio posted a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:00.30 in the 100-yard Freestyle. The Billikens took this match 23-232 over the Saints.

Next up is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships beginning on Tuesday, Feb. 6, in Evansville, Ind.
